“The farmstay experience is absolutely worth it. Daichan Farm Guest House in Asahi Town is truly authentic, with an irori, kotatsu, a lovely 100-year-old Japanese grandmother, and a real farm story — plus delicious local seasonal food. Mama-san (Kazue / Cherry Mama) comes from a sake-producing family and loves telling stories about it. I even joined her in the apple onsen (while André went to the men’s side), and we talked about everything and nothing. For her it was also a little outing. They are incredibly proud of their apples, cherries and plums — beautiful to see. The food was excellent and especially the irori in the traditional living room was beautiful to experience — authentic Japan. And when it’s cold, the kotatsu is wonderful.”
