Last night, a woman I love like a daughter came to visit me for the first time in a long time. She is active in the media industry in Yamagata, and when I hear her story, I can see how much she has grown and worked hard. My best friend from college was also there, and we had endless things to talk about by dinner time️. Even though it was a sudden visit, I wanted to treat her to a warm welcome with Yamagata’s local cuisine, so I prepared “Hippari Udon”. The natto, canned mackerel, and green onions mixed with the noodle soup, and the style of everyone dragging the boiled udon from the pot to eat it was truly a heartwarming moment❣️.
Other dishes she served included pickled eggplant in Akebia juice, thick egg omelet and boiled egg made with eggs from a farmed farmer who had grown up eating Yonezawa rice, rice eggplant with sweet miso, and Akebia vinegar stew. She praised her dishes for being simple and delicious. We are grateful for the fun time we were able to share, and wish her all the best in her future endeavors✨.
